Yoder Supplies Tier 1 Automotive Tooling

Yoder recently supplied tooling to a Tier 1 Automotive supplier for door trim.  The tooling is designed for forming a specialty polymer coated steel for use in roll forming door trim on the customer’s existing M-1 ½ machines.  Yoder’s experience with this material was especially important, as the thick coating is particularly sensitive to the forming pressures of steel.  This is the third such application Yoder has provided tooling for in recent years.

Yoder’s roll forming tooling is purposefully designed and manufactured to meet a range of custom and high production, industrial applications.  For more information, contact yoder@formtekgroup.com, call (216) 292-4460 or visit www.yodermfg.com.

Krasny Kaplan Hex Bundler Rebuild

Krasny Kaplan recently supplied a rebuild of a hex bundling system.  The bundling system can handle seamless pipe up to 7-1/2” diameter, 2” wall thickness, in lengths up to 40 feet.  The customer has seen expanded business activity related to the energy sector, so the rebuild was particularly time sensitive and had to be contained within preplanned shutdown.  Future plans include expanding the maximum length capabilities of the bundler.

Krasny Kaplan is a designer and builder of steel mill material handling equipment.  These systems are tailored to each specific application, considering the unique production and environment and needs of each customer.   More information is available on the website: http://yodermfg.com/products/Material_Handling/, email kk@formtekgroup.com or call (216) 292-4460.

Damper Blade Cutoff Die for OEM RF Mfg.

HillEngineering of Carol Stream, IL, a member of the Formtek Group, has recently helped a OEM Roll Forming and Coil Processing company to provide a new flying slug type cutoff die for a damper blade style product with tight round curl at one end of the part. Hill Engineering used their 60+ year experience in designing a die cutting inserts, using the most advanced tool steels that would fit in the narrow areas of the curl. That gave the area the most support possible to allow the cutoff blade to impact the curl, get a good cut without breaking the insert.

Hill Engineering pre designed and built the updated HX series rail assembly, press frame, and provided a new operators console to include adding the existing mill controls into one cabinet. The Hill Engineering team worked with the customer to time the shipment of  the components to work within the customer time frame to minimize their overall inconvenience

Yoder MS-3 Roll Forming Machine

Yoder recently supplied Jame Roll Formed Products with a new MS-3 Roll Forming Machine. The twenty (20) station, 3” shaft roll forming machine incorporates the latest version of the M-style roll forming stands, which includes Yoder’s new eccentric toggle disconnect.  With the ability to form profiles up to 6.5” deep on the MS-3 model, the disconnect mechanism allows the top drive gear to be taken out of the fixed gear ratio, on specific stations, to accommodate tooling designs that do not match the machinery gear ratio. This will enable Jame Roll Formed Products to run their existing 3” bore tooling on this new machine without modification.

Yoder’s M-Series roll forming machines are rugged, scalable solutions to meet a range of custom and high production, industrial applications.  For more information, contact yoder@formtekgroup.com, call (216) 292-4460 or visit www.yodermfg.com.

Tishken Slitting System for Bearing Steel

Tishken recently supplied a 12-XHS Slitting system for producing narrow coils used in the manufacture of sleeve bearings.  With a maximum 12” incoming coil width, the slitter head was sized to produce 42 cuts of 0.237” wide mults in 0.059” thickness material.  In order to support such particular knife setups, the slitting system includes Tishken’s Roll-a-Head feature for efficient change of the slitter head inline, reducing downtime.   Unlike turret-type systems, with the Roll-a-Head design, the tooling can be setup and gapped offline, then quickly rolled inline and secured via the hydraulic transfer and clamping system.  Additionally, the 12-XHS System includes dual recoilers for wrapping burr up and burr down coils on separate mandrels, each with a non-contact overarm separator for the surface critical material.  To further support the specialty slitting application, the system includes a job memory for storing the speeds and drive settings of each knife setup, to optimize the production and minimize scrap.

Tishken designs and builds specialized production systems for roll forming and coil metal processing.   For more information, contact sales@formtekgroup.com , call (216) 292-4460 or visit www.tishken.com
